Hinze Pen Company Fountain Pen – Magic Mermaid
This is the 4th pen in our series. We started the mermaid line about 3 years ago after Elyce got more serious about resin work and took a class with Zac Higgens of Resin Werks Studio. She learned about some unique pigments and powders that permit “color-shifts”. From there, her imagination ran away from her, and the mermaid line was born! Now, Elyce has founded Starry Night Resins, a sister company to Hinze Pens where she is now offering her unique resins to other makers and some larger pen manufacturers.and the “WOW” factor for which Hinze is known.
The Magical Mermaid uses what’s called interference colors, you can see hints of blue, red, green, and of course purple in the white sparkly diamond. Moving up the body of the pen towards the cap, you see purple magically appear out of that ocean of white, ending with an almost completely purple cap. In the sunlight, the pen glows, much like mother of pearl or abalone shell. Purple has always been associated with magic and sorcery; we feel the pen is aptly named. Of course, the violet nib completes the overall look of the pen. Uncapping it and revealing that beautiful JOWO nib is the true magic and the “WOW” factor for which Hinze is known.
